Leaving Jackson at last! First destination: San Francisco.
See the black bag (above) with NO wheels.The flight from Jackson to S.F.pointed out a glaring miscalculation. Carrying an 18 pound bag is painful.
So we went to Macy's in S.F. and bought a violent green carry-on, weighing in at 6.5 pounds!, As we crammed the black bag formerly known as Irene's carry-on into a pre-paid mailer, we discovered hidden backpack straps… Oops!
We also purchased our Japanese rail passes at the JTB office in S.F.. Anyone read Japanese?
The itinerary: We visit the green countries starting with Japan, then Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. Then another green country Turkey with a side trip to Sofia, Bulgaria.
Next the Blue and Purple countries: Ireland, Scotland, Scandanavia, with brief visits to St. Peterburg, Estonia and Germany.
Last stop Iceland. Home June 26th.
