Misis Mosaic Museum
We didn't find Noah's ark on Mt. Ararat, but we did find the mosaics! At the Misis Mosaic Museum!
It exhibits the works that were excavated from the Misis burial mound, most notably mosaics that were on the floor of a 4th century Basilica in the ancient city of Misis. They are exhibited in situ and is from the 4th century.
The mosaics were discovered in 1956 by Theodor Bosset and Ludwig Budde from the German archaeology team who were carrying out excavations at the Misis mound. The museum was founded in 1959 and is in the village of Yakapınar (near Adana, Turkey).
At the center of the mosaic is a chicken coop built in the shape of a table or a side table surrounded by 23 birds or fowls taken by Noah onto the ark. There are also animals from the countryside.
I wanted to volunteer to wash and polish the giant mosaic floor which appeared to have not been dusted since discovery in 1959.
