Archipelago Magic and a trip to Vauxholm

June 2-6, 2013 We spend a  wonderufl 5 days in Stockholm, Sweden

Stockholm Archipelago

There are some 30,000 islands in the archipelago extending out from Stockholm. Most are uninhabited, many are very small.

We passed through the archipelago on the cruise ship Eurodam coming into and leaving Stockholm. Some photos are from the ship.

Tempted by the good weather and by the fact that Drottingham Royal Palace was closed because of the impending marriage of Princess Madeleine at the royal Palace in Stockholm with the reception at Drottingham, we took a half day trip to Vaxholm, winding our way through the archipelago.

Vaxholm is an idyllic archipelago town with many well-preserved wooden houses from the turn of the last century, painted in the archipelago’s typical delicate pastel tones. Vaxholm has numerous charming restaurants, cafés and shops.
