Floating Market
Originating from a time when water transport was the most practical way to transport good, floating markets today serve mainly as tourist attractions. Chau Doc's floating market was certainly tourist-worthy, and we bought a large bunch of bananas, but the market also sold produce to middle men who resold it on the shore.

To the market; we need bananas |
Fish Farming
Basa fish (known in the UK as Vietnamese river cobbler) is a type of catfish that is farmed in pens along the Mekong River. Basa fish is known for its mild taste and flaky white meat and is becoming the preferred type of fish among consumers because of its “cleaner” and almost bland taste compared to other types of farm-raised fish. Unfortunately high levels of mercury and antibiotics have been found in the basa.
