Vat Xieng Thong
"With its roofs running almost to ground level and its elaborately decorated gilded wood façade, Xieng Thong (1560) is without doubt the most beautiful temple in Luang Prabang (and possibly all of Laos)"--Micheliin Guide
The Temple built in 1559 is being restored with a little help from the U.S. Embassy in Laos. Other restorations have occurred in the past, notably one in 1928 when the Lao King demanded that the French share in the cost.
