Biggest, loudest, wildest party in Tokyo

Senso-ji complex and the Asakusa Shrine



Senso-ji is Tokyo's oldest Buddhist temple, and one of its most significant. Adjacent to the temple is a Shinto Shrine, the Asakusa Shrine. The approach to the temple is Nakamise-dori which is lined with shops. Senso-ji is site of the wild Sanja festival in May, said to be the biggest, loudest, wildest party in Tokyo.

This straw sandal and one on the other side were made by people in Murayama City and devoted to Senso-ji. People wishing for good luck in walking often touch the sandals. I couldn't reach them...
