Road Show - A view from the bus

We spent a lot of time riding in a bus across Vietnam and Cambodia. I was tremendously impressed by the very small, small and medium size open air shops and businesses, some of which doubled as the owners' homes. These photgraphs were selected from a few hundred I took through the bus window, hence the name: "Road Show."

The first group of photos shows food and fruit and vegetable stores of varied size and shapes.

This fruit store is in a downtown market in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).

The next group of photos are "restaurants."  I didn't include the myriad of food stands everywhere in southeast asia because I already did a "fast food" blog posting.

Clothing stores abound.

Now let's have a big look at building materials.

Even sand and gravel. . .

and lampposts

and a variety of hardware stores.

 Home furnishings, too

and craftsmen making furniture.

Many other workshops and repair shops are open to the road.

A variety of other businesses have small open air shops, including a camera store.

a photo studio

a hairdresser and manicurist

a trinket stand

 an auto tire store

children's bike and toy stores

and a stationery store.
