Leaving Osaka

We left Japan yesterday, from Kansai Airport in Osaka.

Osaka (大阪literally means "large hill" or "large slope." I know this because I studied the Kanji characters (and wikipedia!). It is Japan's third largest city with over 18 million people. Situated on Osaka Bay, the city is a center of commerce and industry.

Kansai airport is a 50 minute bus ride from downtown; that's plenty of time to photograph the sights through the window. Check out Amazon's building with the words "Amazon.co.jp" on the side.

There is an Osaka in Virginia and Alabama, too!
